About Para Fencing

To us fencing is fencing - whether you have a disability or not!

The Leon Paul Project is fully inclusive, and is able to provide high quality Para Fencing coaching for all abilities up to Paralympic standard.

  • The Staff

Leon Paul Project coaches have all experienced the sport as internationally competitive fencers. They are now bringing their expertise to para fencing in collaboration with colleague specialists in S & C, Physiotherapy, and Data Analysis whilst being supported by Leon Paul London’s depth and breadth of manufacturing expertise in manufacturing fencing products for over one hundred years.

  • The Athletes

Our current athletes include three-time Paralympian and 17-time World Cup Medallist, Gemma Collis - who is currently aiming for Paris 2024. New applicants are always welcome as we look to sustain each generation - one to the next. The LP Project welcomes athletes of all ages, from 14 upwards, who are committed to working towards and achieving their full potential on the world stage.

  • The Facilities

The Leon Paul Centre is a state-of-the-art fencing facility, built in 2013, that uses many technologies developed for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The home of the LP Project, the Fencing Centre has a designated piste for Wheelchair Fencing, which includes an international standard Wheelchair Fencing frame along with Fencing Wheelchairs set up for both right and left-handed athletes.

What do you get?

Competition-level para fencers take part in our fully integrated Project training sessions. Every week in season, in our 7 dedicated High Performance sessions with expert coaches, standing fencers take it in turns to spar seated against our para fencers. This ensures access to high quality and varied sparring for everyone, and is hugely beneficial for our standing and seated fencers alike. Para fencers also benefit from one-to-one lessons and many more. For more information and prices, please visit membership page.

Training Schedule

We currently offer group training sessions to project fencers 6 days a week. Session times may change as required depending on the stage of the season and to fit in with fencers’ competition cycles. Please keep updated with the Leon Paul Staff for actual session times.
